Wixcet Classroom Privacy Policy

Effective October 21, 2026

Wixcet Classroom is an independent extension and website operated by Cesar Urrutia. It provides an alternative workspace for information from a user's Blackboard Ultra account. It is not operated by Google, Blackboard, Anthology, or a school.

School information

When you use Classroom, the extension accesses the signed-in school's course and account information needed for the workspace. This can include account/profile details, course names and branding, instructors and classmates, profile images, assignments, deadlines, submission status, grades, announcements, notifications, syllabuses, and course files. It also remembers the original Blackboard page so you can return to the relevant course or item. The extension detects supported Blackboard pages; it is not intended to record unrelated browsing history.

School sign-in

Sign in through your school's normal Blackboard login. Wixcet does not ask you to type your school password into wixcet.com. The extension uses the existing browser session and reads Blackboard session/anti-forgery information required for authenticated requests and notifications. It does not intentionally send raw Blackboard cookies to the Wixcet feedback database. Sensitive sign-in information should never be included in a feedback report.

Browser processing and optional cloud sync

The extension connects your Blackboard session to the Wixcet website in your browser. Fetched course content is processed through that bridge and browser caches; it is not bulk-uploaded to the preferences database. School links and files may contact your school and its configured content providers.

The current release automatically syncs small preferences and manual completion marks through Chrome sync when enabled in your browser. This can include selected teachers, course identifiers and order, colors, display settings, theme, automatic launch, and manual completion identifiers. The browser account protects sync access, and preference records are further separated by school origin and Blackboard account. No separate Wixcet sign-in is needed. Chrome controls transfer timing and applies its own account and privacy policies. Uploaded profile photos, banner images, and syllabus copies remain device-local in this browser-sync release.

A local cache and pending-save queue remain for offline use and retrying sync saves. The extension also stores automatic-launch preferences so it can apply them before the website opens. Without browser sync, preferences remain on the device.

If you previously enabled the earlier authenticated website cloud-sync feature, its records may remain under your verified sign-in identity, school origin, and Blackboard account ID. These may include preferences and personal uploads stored in the private database and object storage. That feature is not automatically enabled by this release. You may request deletion as described below.

Feedback

If you submit an error report or suggestion, Wixcet stores your selected category, report text, optional contact email, submission time, source area (info page or Classroom), and review status. Reports are visible only through the owner-restricted administration tools. Do not include passwords, private school material, grades, or other people's personal information. The owner uses reports to understand problems, improve the product, and respond when contact details are supplied.

Basic website activity

The website records daily aggregate counts for information-page views, successful Classroom openings, and a fixed set of view categories. A random browser-session identifier supports approximate daily session counts. These activity events do not include course titles, student names, grades, assignment contents, Blackboard domains, full page URLs, or query strings. The analytics database does not store raw IP addresses. The server uses salted, hourly IP-derived hashes for rate-limit counters. Hosting and network providers may process routine request information as part of delivering and protecting the service.

Purpose and sharing

Information is used to provide the course workspace, maintain preferences, support the user, and understand basic product activity. Wixcet does not sell user data or use it for advertising, unrelated profiling, or credit decisions. Hosting/database providers process the records necessary to deliver the website and feedback service. Chrome may sync preferences through the browser account when enabled. School services and linked third-party resources apply their own policies.

Retention and controls

Browser-held information remains subject to browser/session lifetime, cache replacement, and your deletion choices. You can turn off automatic launch in Classroom Settings, remove the extension, and clear wixcet.com site data separately. Clearing website data and removing the extension affect different browser storage areas. Cloud preferences and uploads remain until removed or reset through the application or removed by the operator following a request. Clearing browser data does not delete cloud records. Signing out stops authenticated cloud sync. Stored feedback remains until removed by the operator; no automatic report-deletion schedule is currently implemented. Approximate daily session identifiers are cleaned up after 90 days when the metrics endpoint runs. Aggregate daily counts can be retained longer. Expired rate-limit records are cleaned up when metrics requests run.

Security

Connections use HTTPS. The application restricts bridge operations to supported endpoints and the bound school/tab connection. Administration requires a verified owner account and server-side authorization. Public feedback endpoints use input validation, same-origin checks, and request rate limits. These measures reduce risk but cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your requests and contact

Use Report an error at https://wixcet.com/ or Send feedback in Classroom Settings to ask a privacy question or request removal of a submitted report or your cloud preferences and uploads. Provide enough non-sensitive information for the owner to locate it. Do not send a school password or session token. Clearing your browser data does not remove a report already submitted to the server.

Changes

The policy may be updated when the product's data practices change. The effective date at the top identifies this version.
